DR. FADY BARBARY · PATIENT INFORMATION
Prepare for your consultation
A practical checklist to help you gather your records and questions before visiting the clinic.
For every consultation
- Bring existing reports, scans and laboratory results; do not arrange new tests unless your clinician requests them.
- Prepare a list of medicines, supplements, allergies and previous operations.
- Write down your main questions and goals; bring someone you trust if you wish.
- Confirm the clinic, day and time with the team, and discuss any access needs before travelling.
Colorectal cancer or a second opinion
- Bring available colonoscopy, biopsy and scan reports, plus summaries of previous treatment.
- Discuss the aim and order of treatment, the alternatives and how surgery fits into the plan.
- Ask whether a temporary or permanent stoma might be needed and how support would be arranged.
- Discuss recovery, follow-up, work and daily activities, and whom to contact if a problem occurs.
Bariatric surgery or a previous operation
- After a previous operation, bring the operation report, discharge summary and available nutrition and follow-up results.
- Note weight changes and concerns such as reflux or difficulty eating for discussion; these do not determine an operation on their own.
- Discuss non-surgical options, the benefits and risks of each operation, and long-term nutrition and follow-up needs.
- Ask for your own written recovery, medicine, diet and activity plan. Do not change medication or begin fasting based on this page.
Before you leave the consultation
Check that you understand the next step, any requested tests, follow-up arrangements and how to contact the team. Ask about any unclear instructions and keep the written plan.
